Learning Support

We recognise that in Eden Primary School there may be up to 20% of pupils who at some time in their Primary School career may need assistance with learning difficulties.  We are committed to raising the attainment level of these children.  In order to achieve this we use early diagnosis and intervention coupled with the importance of parental involvement and close co-operation between Agencies in a multi-disciplinary approach.

At present the school has two Learning Support teachers, one for Literacy and one for Numeracy who work with children either on an individual basis, or a small group or in the child’s classroom.  They also liaise closely with the class teachers to ensure each child is receiving a broad, balanced, differentiated curriculum and is working to the best of their ability.

In providing extra support for these children we hope to nurture each child’s self esteem and confidence by ensuring they have a positive self image and feel valued not only in their class but in our school.
