Tank Project with Downshire School

On Wednesday 9th December, the Primary 7 class took part in a Tank Project with staff from Downshire School. We had an opportunity to visit and learn about the tank which sits on the Marine Highway in Carrickfergus. Mrs Boyd made the workshop great fun, even though the weather was very windy and cold. Some of the things which we learnt were:

  • tanks were made in Carrickfergus during the Second World War
  • Harland and Wolf made tanks
  • the tank weighs 40 tonnes
  • Downshire school made a replica tank

We also went into the Civic Centre, where we completed a tank puzzle and completed a number of interesting worksheets. When we were leaving we each got a set of colouring pencils.

Many thanks Downshire School and especially Mrs Boyd.
