Power at Kilroot

Monday 16th September 2013

Eight children from Primary 6 had the opportunity to go to Kilroot Power Station and take part in the filiming of a documentary style film.  This was all in association with the Cinemagic Festival.  The children were able to visit the power plant and learn about how coal is shipped in, burned and used to make electricity.  We all had to wear hard hats and safety glasses to keep us safe.  The children had a great day out.  According to one 'It was good but tiring.'  The children slept well that night after taking on board a lot of interesting information.  The children particularly enjoyed being in the workshop, where they were able to view Alex welding pieces of metal.
