Harvest  Thank you for all the contributions for this year’s harvest appeal. I have taken all of the donations to representatives of Storehouse and Carrickfergus Foodbank.

Sponsored Bounce   The children will be taking part in the sponsored Bounce on Friday 28th October 2016 to raise money for this year’s nominated school charity. Thank you for your support. Money should come into school when we return after the Halloween holiday with all money being received no later than Friday 11th November.

10p Tuesday   We raised the fantastic sum of £315.95 on 10p Tuesday, which will be given to our charity, Stand By Me. Thank you to all who contributed to this event.

Intake for Primary 1 – September 2017   Application forms for Primary 1 in September 2017 will arrive in school early December with a closing date mid-January 2017. If you are unsure as to whether you have registered your child for a place in the school, please contact Mrs Logan urgently.

Open Week – Monday 21st – 25th November 2016   Any new parent who has not already viewed the school facilities and wishes to do so may visit the school during this week between 9.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m. If this week is not suitable you may of course come at a more suitable time and should contact Mrs Logan to arrange this.

School Development Plan   We have recently formulated the new School Development Plan for the school years 2016-2019. Any parent wishing to avail of a copy should contact the School Office immediately. If you do request a copy of this document, I hope you are able to find some time to read it. If you have any comments or questions about the plan please bring them to my attention by 15th November 2016.

Children in Need - Friday 18th November Once again we will be joining with others in taking part in the Children in Need Day. We intend to raise funds for this worthy cause by holding a Non-Uniform Day. The fee for wearing non-uniform for each child will be 50p. This money should be brought to School by your child on this date and given to the class teacher.

Lateness and Holidays   Please remember, all children should be in school to start work at 9.00 a.m. Continual lateness is recorded and does affect your child’s overall attendance percentage. Each child is expected by the Education Authority to have an attendance of 96%. The school is not able to give permission for holidays taken within the school term and these unauthorised days also affect your child’s overall attendance. I would also remind all parents if your child is absent from school a written note must be provided to the class teacher, a telephone call is not sufficient.

Library   Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to man the library. Library sessions commenced week beginning 10th October and the children are certainly benefitting from this.

Movie Duvet Night – Friday 18th November This is an evening for the children of the school to come in pyjamas and bring a blanket/pillow and watch a DVD together. The film this year is ‘Elf’, which is a good fun, seasonal film.

Christmas Fair – Friday 2nd December – 6.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m. Please keep this date free. I am reliably informed that Santa will be in his Grotto within the school. More details to follow.

Rainbow Playgroup  If you have a child who is due to start playgroup/nursery in September 2017 and are looking for a playgroup/nursery place, Rainbow Playgroup in Sunnylands Community Centre are having their Open Day on 28th November 2016 from 11.30 am – 1pm.
