Holidays in School Term/Lateness/Absences The Education Authority requires each child to attain an attendance level of 96% each school year. Any child whose attendance falls below 85% is automatically referred to the Education Welfare Officer as this is a legal requirement by the Education Authority. Could I also remind you, if you choose to take your child on holiday during school term, the school will not provide extra work, as this is only provided in cases of illness/hospital stays. I would also point out that continual lateness into school also affects your child’s attendance and indeed class routine.

RSE Policy We have recently revised the School’s Policy for Relationships and Sexuality Education. Any parent wishing to avail of a copy should contact the School Office immediately. If you do request a copy of this document, I hope you are able to find some time to read it. If you have any comments or questions about the policy please bring them to my attention by 15th March 2017.

Notes in Schoolbags Could I ask all parents to check schoolbags on a daily basis for notes regarding school trips, newsletters and other information. There are a considerable number of children who do not return permissions slips, despite repeated copies being sent home. In the future this may prevent your child from being able to attend various events as we are not permitted to take a child out of school without a written permission slip. I felt I should bring this to your attention as with the summer term approaching each class will be going on a designated trip. Thank you for your co-operation.

Return of Reading and Text Books Please check at home and if you have any reading or text books which belong to the School, please do return these, no matter how late, as many are now out of print and can’t be replaced. Again my thanks.

Summer Dresses Please remember, dresses are in stock in Gordon’s Green Street, Carrickfergus and can be worn from Monday 24thApril 2017 (weather permitting). I would ask that if you do decide to purchase a dress, that you choose the regulation dress and not other options. School shoes are also totally acceptable with the summer dress. However, if you wish to purchase sandals I would ask that strappy, high-heeled sandals are not worn to school, in the interests of health and safety. Thank you. A

fter School Clubs Please note all After School Clubs will end on Friday 24th March 2017. A note will be sent in the new term giving dates when they will restart.
