OPERA HOUSE – Friday 6th January 2017 Arrangements for our annual outing to the Opera House are as follows. Those children who are not attending the event will not come to school at all. Children attending, will come to school at 12.15 p.m. and enter by the front door, going straight to the Assembly Hall. Children should wear full school uniform. Please do not send any drinks, sweets or money with your child as they will receive refreshments at the interval. We will return to school at 4.15 p.m. Please do not park in the Larne Road layby or collect your child from the Larne Road, as this area must be kept clear for the buses returning. Your child will be walked up through the school grounds to the Edenvale Avenue gate for collection.

DINNER MONEY   As noted on the update sent out in December, school dinners are now £2.55 per day. Please ensure dinner money is paid on a Monday morning only, indicating the days you wish your child to take dinners. The school does not have a safe and it is therefore important that all money is removed from school and not received on a daily basis. Thank you for your support.

EXAM WEEK  This will be week commencing Monday 16th January 2017. Can I stress that it is important that, if at all possible, your child has full attendance at all times, but particularly during exam week.

ECO News   The School has been awarded our second Eco Schools Green Flag. Well done to all the pupils and staff for their efforts over the last two years to achieve this. Thank you also to our parents who have supported the active travelling to and from school.

ATTENDANCE   This school has always maintained a high attendance level. We are required by the Education Authority to have an attendance level of 96%. Children who attend less than 85% are automatically referred to the Education Welfare Officer. Can I therefore encourage continued good attendance and arrival in school on time.

PARENTAL INTERVIEWS   These interviews will take place from Monday 30th January – Friday 3rd February 2017 to commence at 1.10 p.m. each day. The school will close during this week at 1.00 p.m. for all children to accommodate these interviews. Dinners will be served. You will be sent details of the day and time of your interview(s) nearer the time.

SCHOOL BOOK FAIR   The Book Fair will run from Monday 30th January to Friday 3rd February 2017. Parents will have an opportunity of visiting the Fair when they attend their parental interviews. The children will have an opportunity each day to visit the Fair with their class. Can I recommend the Book Fair to you as they are excellent books at great value for money.
