Football Team Wins the League

Our school team won the local Primary Schools' B League on the final day of the season!

Having played brilliantly all season, losing just one match and drawing one, it was all to play for in the final match of the league. When we played Carrick Central earlier in the term, the match ended as a 3-3 draw, but Eden needed a win this time to secure the title.

The match started in the rain and while the boys all played well, we were a goal down fairly early in the first half. The boys kept their heads up and had a number of chances before Callum evened things up with a superbly taken corner which curled straight into the back of the net. Matthew and Saul were very solid at the back and made some excellent tackles and clearances to deny a Central team which had a few chances of their own. David, as always, pulled off some great saves and made good use of his long kicks to get the ball up the park and into the opposition half.

We had a great spell during the second half where Max and Dylan made some brilliant runs down the wings to provide crosses into the box. During this period, Callum added another three goals. In the thirtieth minute, Dylan was replaced by Oren on the right wing. It was a brilliant performance by all the boys, led by their captain Josh who never stopped running the whole game. He was always tracking back and putting in decisive tackles when necessary, and spreading the ball out to the wings when going forward.

At the final whistle, there were wild celebrations before the boys were presented with the trophy and their individual medals. Thanks to all the boys who have played in the matches this season, with a special mention to Ajay who played superbly all season, but missed the final game due to absence from school.
